Anthony Edwards boasts proving team USA wrong after predicting Top 3 spot for Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in the Top 3 in the Western Conference for the larger part of the season.
Anthony Edwards proved his Team USA teammates wrong
Superstar Anthony Edwards spent time with Team USA teammates at the FIBA World Championships. They suggested that Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves would remain in the play-in spots again. However, he predicted they would finish in the Top 3 of the Western Conference.
Anthony Edwards was talking to reporters after the game against the Golden State Warriors yesterday. When asked about the playoff seedings for his Minnesota Timberwolves, this is what Edwards said:
My USA brothers, they thought we was gonna be in the play in. I'm happy to prove them wrong. I told them we was gonna be like top 3 in the West, and they was 'nah y'all be going be in the play in again'. I actually told them that Orlando was gonna be in the playoffs, I told them that Tyrese will be in play in game, I told them New York will be super good. And they was strictly on we gonna be in the play in. And I told them that 'Na we gonna be top 3.Anthony Edwards via post-game interview
This discussion showed that Edwards had extreme confidence in the Timberwolves’ chances in the West. Even though his Team USA teammates insisted that they would repeat as a play-in contender, Edwards loved the challenge to prove them wrong.
The 2-time All-Star and his team have proven his Team USA teammates wrong so far. They have maintained their scintillating form despite both their twin towers missing games. It speaks about Edwards’ desire to drive his team to the top and establish themselves as the best in the West.
Last season they had nearly the same personnel both on and off the court. But still ended up in the 8th spot and had to go through the play-in games. Maybe Edwards decided then that he would step up and take charge. This year, things have drastically improved for the Timberwolves.
Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves flying high
Anthony Edwards and his high-flying Minnesota Timberwolves are in the top 3 of the Western Conference. If they finish in the Top 3, it will be exactly 20 years since they last finished in those spots. That time, it was team legend Kevin Garnett, who put up an MVP season to spur them to the No. 1 spot.
This time, Edwards is spearheading their campaign. In his fourth season, the 6’4″ guard has taken over the mantle from illustrious teammate Karl Anthony-Towns. KAT was the leading superstar for quite some time. However, Edwards has taken over and propelled this team with his all-out scoring and dedication to defense.
The Timberwolves did lead the West until Anthony-Towns went down with a torn left meniscus. At least Anthony Edwards has kept up his end of the bargain. And if it stays that way, his Team USA teammates will have to bow to his preseason predictions.
