Anthony Edwards’ rise into the NBA has been quite exponential and heard out loud, with the player being compared to the likes of Michael Jordan. But in his recent interview with Stephen A. Smith, “Ant” as everyone calls him, stated that he is better than both Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who both are having an excellent season and even a strong contender for the MVP award this season.
Anthony Edwards replied when asked about how he would feel measuring up against those two:
I feel like I'm the better player, 100 percent.Anthony Edwards said
The 22-year-old Minnesota Timberwolves player is having a season of his own as his team sits on top of the Western Conference. In the 2023-24 season already he has averaged 26.3 points, 5.2 rebounds 5.3 assists, and 47.1 FG. Leading the lines for his team, he has been instrumental for them, providing both offensive and defensive attributes in their in-form season.
But the same argument can be said for both Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who have been nothing but exceptional for their teams, making a huge impact on their own fields. But the argument has raised quite a debate, which will be a topic of conversation for a while.
Who are the favorites for the 2024 MVP award?
The 2024 season has seen some great ballers from Luka Doncic to Joel Embiid who looks more than favorites to win the MVP. But with the second of the season on and the first half of the season giving us an insight as to who are the frontrunners, there are a few strong strong candidates.
The first name is Luka Doncic who just seems to get better and better every game – and his stats don’t lie. Currently top of the list for Points Per game with 34.3 and 3rd most assists in the league, he has made sure the award is definitely what will be aiming for. Another prominent name is Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid who has been a machine on the court, with both his offensive and defensive side. Who knows the famous old trophy could be making a return to Philly. But if there is one person who will make sure to give a rough time for both is the Joker himself, Nikola Jokic, who looks like the favorite to win it.
Given his performances on and court with stats that back him every time, it would be a hard choice but with the 2nd half of the season still yet to play, things are heating up fast.
