Anthony Edwards is crucial to the Minnesota Timberwolves‘ success this season. He has largely stayed healthy so far, appearing in 56 games out of the 60 his team has played in. Edwards started today’s game against fellow Western Conference playoff contenders, the Sacramento Kings. However, he had to leave the game halfway after he got a call that his pregnant girlfriend had gone into labor. This news sent fans into a tizzy.

Anthony Edwards is an otherwise quiet individual, going about his task of improving in the game of basketball. After elevating himself to All-Star status, he enjoys his time with his family off the court. He prefers to keep his family life private. Hence, the official statement from the Timberwolves and the NBA said that he left due to personal reasons. But leaked reports suggest he left the game to be with his girlfriend Jeanine Robel, who entered labor to give birth to their child.

Edwards was under the public scanner when details of his affair with an Instagram model were leaked. This brought some negative opinions about his mindset from analysts and fans alike. Since then, he has settled the matter privately and even reaffirmed his commitment to his pregnant girlfriend Robel. Edwards left the game with 11 points on the scoreboard. His absence, though, culminated in the Minnesota Timberwolves losing to the Sacramento Kings 124-120. Due to his absence, the lack of perimeter defense in the second half allowed Malik Monk to dominate the game for the Kings.
