“Look at these queer a** n**gas” Anthony Edwards’ homophobic comments brings him into danger of being BANNED for life
Anthony Edwards
Anthony Edwards, a star for the Minnesota Timberwolves, made anti-gay remarks about a group of guys standing on a sidewalk in a video that he shared to Instagram over the weekend. Edwards, who was selected first overall in the 2020 draft, is probably going to get penalized for the incident.
One of the league’s hottest rising talents is Anthony Edwards. He currently has a rookie size deal, and like every other rookie in the league who makes an impression on their front office, he will likely receive a contract extension offer in the summer before his rookie scale contract expires. Thanks to the work he has been doing over the summer, he was looking like a potential for a significant breakout next season. Edwards was headed for possible superstardom, but sadly, this may be the biggest obstacle in his way.
Anthony Edwards’ pro basketball career so far
Anthony Edwards had a fantastic NBA season in 2020–21, putting up a stat line of 19 points, four rebounds, and nearly three assists. Edwards amply demonstrated why the Minnesota Timberwolves were right to choose him with the first overall choice when he narrowly lost to LaMelo Ball of the Charlotte Hornets for the prestigious NBA Rookie of the Year award. In the prior season, Edwards averaged 21.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game while shooting 35.7 percent from outside the arc and 52.7 percent overall. Minnesota won 46 games and made the playoffs for the first time in four seasons thanks in large part to Ant-Man.
As he enters his third season as a pro and is starting to establish himself as a rising star in this league, Anthony Edwards is undoubtedly the most exciting phenomenon. The Timberwolves face a challenging season as they want to advance to the playoffs for the second straight year and try to make the twin towers of Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert work in their advantage. Minnesota and its supporters will be hoping that the trio can take the Timberwolves to a new level of greatness after a terrific summer of recreation and growth. Edwards is now facing a challenging position as Minnesota prepares for the 2022–23 season.
Edwards and his derogatory comments on social media
Anthony Edwards shared a video to his Instagram stories in which he made fun of queer guys who were wandering on the side of the road. Edwards took offence with that for whatever reason, recording them on his phone from his car while yelling insults at them out of range. Edwards then made the decision to upload the video on his 1.2 million-follower Instagram account. He seems to be with an another woman in the video, and the two chuckle as Edwards records the guys and wonders what has become of the world. Since then, the video has been removed from social media.
In an effort to clear the air over his remarks, Edwards released a statement. The 21-year-old labelled his comments as immature and expressed his extreme regret before adding that he was raised better than that. The location of the video’s shooting is unknown, but because he has been performing well in the league and is the centre of attention, it circulated quickly. Since there is extremely little tolerance for homophobia in the sport, the NBA has not yet stated if there would be any consequences for his behavior.
