Anthony Edwards is one for the league’s rising megastars who shows potential of becoming a top 5 player in the NBA in the coming years. According to some, Ant is considered to be one of the NBA’s Golden Boys. His work on the court will gradually become a major threat as he enters his prime.

The Minnesota Timberwolves picked a great player as their No.1 overall. Last season he averaged a terrific 21.3 points, 4.8 rebounds,  and 3.8 assists per game shooting 44.1% from the field. In the playoffs, his 25.5 points would take them as far as a six game series against the Memphis Grizzlies which resulted in an exit. But them making the playoffs shows there is hope in the franchise’s future and with their recent acquisition of Rudy Gobert, it is only just the beginning.

These days, the world has become very inclusive of people’s choices and feelings. The LGBTQ+ Community has beena product of awareness on occurances in society. The NBA for one has been very accepting about the personal choices people make and has strictly depromoted racism or acts of it’s kind. But Anthony Edwards went a bit too far despite knowing how much damage it could cost to his image.

In a recent video he reacted to group of men saying, “Look at these queer a** ni**as, man.”  These words are nor particularly the best things to say to your 1.2 Million followers who are possibly queer themselves. He may not have intentionally said it to curse the queer community but more as a joke of some sort. Despite his intentions, NBA fans were not happy about it and the player received a huge load of backlash.

Anthony Edwards sends out a public apology to his fans

After being tossed and almost cancelled by NBA fans, Anthony Edwards decided to own up to his grave mistake. He took to Twitter to apologise to his followers saying, ā€œItā€™s unacceptable for me or anyone to use that language in such a hurtful way, thereā€™s no excuse for it, at all. I was raised better than that!ā€

There is a possibility that the league may throw a penalty his way. Other stars with Kevin Durant have also been fined heavily for their “uncultured” comments. The NBA has yet to speak on the issue but Ant has a lot to make for in the coming days.
