“We just play soft, man” Anthony Edwards reveals his honest thoughts on DISAPPOINTING Minnesota Timberwolves as the team falls to 5-6 record

“We just play soft, man” Anthony Edwards reveals his honest thoughts on DISAPPOINTING Minnesota Timberwolves as the team falls to 5-6 record

Anthony Edwards

Minnesota Timberwolves started their season strong winning 4 of their first 6 games. They already had stars like Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns on their roster. After acquiring Rudy Gobert this offseason the expectations from the Timberwolves soared exponentially. However, after their three consecutive losses against the Suns, Spurs, and Bucks, the Wolves seem to be losing their groove. With the 5-6 record, Edwards and the Wolves are sitting at the 10th position in Western Conference.

After their loss to the New York Knicks, Edwards got brutally honest with his team’s performance. The “Ant Man” clearly did not look happy with the team’s effort. Edwards was critical of how ‘soft’ his team played, including himself. He said, “We just play soft, man. Like, every bump, we flying all over the place, including myself.”

The Timberwolves had a 46-36 record last season with the past roster. Adding the two-time Defensive Player of The Year in Rudy Gobert should only increase their chances of going deep into the season. Edwards remarked, “Teams just coming in like, ‘We’re going to take their heart,’ and that’s what’s going on. We’re down 20 every game! We’ve got to figure it out.”

The Timberwolves have lost 4 of their last 5 games which is certainly a glaring situation for the team with a deep roster. Their only win came against the Houston Rockets which sits at the last spot in the Western Conference and has the worst record in the league with Orlando Magic. However, Rudy Gobert has missed the last 2 games due to non-Covid reasons so it remains to be seen what his return to the team brings. Edwards has started this season strong and has been averaging 22.2 ppg in 36 minutes this season.

Anthony Edwards’ stationary play against the Rockets draws strong reactions from fans on Twitter

Anthony Edwards drew strong reactions from the fans on Twitter for his stagnant play against the Houston Rockets. Although Edwards and the Timberwolves won the game with a good lead, the play in the 2nd quarter showed Edwards standing still outside the 3-point line. The play left fans guessing whether Edwards was happy in Minnesota.

As it appears in the video, it is plausible to think that the play was originally designed for Anthony Edwards, but he refused to move from the spot on purpose. One of the fans wrote, “do you think this play was designed for Anthony Edwards“. One dejected fan wrote, “That’s a bad look Ant.” Interestingly, after Karl-Anthony Towns called Anthony Edwards out for his diet, the NBA fans were left guessing if there was some trouble within the team.
