After signing a 5-year contract extension that could reach $260 million, Ant has now decided to make a huge swap.
Anthony Edwards has decided to change his jersey number from No. 1 to No. 5. The All-Star guard always wanted to don a #5 jersey but that was just not possible for him. Earlier it was booked by Malik Beasley and last season by Kyle Anderson. But now Kyle and Edwards have agreed to swap their numbers.
Anthony talking about the big change with his jersey number with Shams Charania revealed a piece of history that comes with it and its importance in his life. The Wolves guard quoted: “I’m switching from No. 1 to No. 5 this year. It should be fun. Five has always been my number. High school, college, AAU. It’s always been a number that I always wanted. I tried to get it when I got drafted, I just couldn’t. My teammate had it.”
Edwards also claims he’ll be a “whole different player” with his new number and the fans are going to get a lot of highlights to enjoy. Further, when Shams Charania asked him about the three-year deadly in getting the number changed. Anthony said: “Opportunity presented itself this year and I took it. Kyle likes No. 1 anyway so he can have 1 and I’m going to take 5.”
Anthony Edwards is a big family guy. And, even they love to watch him don the special number #5. So that’s also a big reason behind him going back to his favorite number. It really has been a great offseason for the rising star and now he waits for the action to begin. So he can lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to new heights.

The young guard didn’t take a moment before revealing how all his goals are team goals so they can keep winning. He also mentioned how individual goals don’t really matter when you are recording dubs.
Further, getting into more details Anthony Edwards added: “We want to win 50 games this year. We want to get KAT to MVP level this year, we want Jaden to be the best 3 and D guy in the NBA. But he’s more than that. Want Ruby to be the DPOY… Hopefully, it would be a great year.”
Edwards is also looking to take charge of the team and lead them to success. He believes leadership speaks through actions and for that, he’ll have to step on the court. Last season the Minnesota Timberwolves failed to make any great noise and exited the playoffs in the first round. As they were running low on chemistry. Hopefully, they have worked on it and their BIG 3 is ready to ball out.
