Anthony Edwards goes off on free throw disparity between Lakers and Timberwolves after tough defeat

Anthony Edwards and the Wolves faced the Los Angeles Lakers, as they recovered from their previous loss against the Cavs. The Lakers had a dominant fourth quarter, outscoring the Wolves by 12 and securing the win, 120-109. While the men in purple were led by Anthony Davis, who put up a historic stat line, putting up 27 points, 25 rebounds, and seven steals, Edwards and Naz Reid led the Wolves, scoring 25 each.

Looking at the stats, the Lakers shot 29 free throws compared to Wolves’ 13 attempts. Edwards addressed the same post-game, while also pointing out AD’s 13 free throw attempts.

The game was worth watching until the second half. Things took a turn in the third and fourth quarter when the Lakers made 12 of their 16 free throws.

It’s tough every night when we don’t get to the free throw line as much as the other team, when one player shoots more free throws than your entire team, it’s tough… In the fourth quarter when you miss a shot, they go to the free throw line every time… You want to compete and if every time they get the ball, we so-called foul them, and they get to the free throw line. It’s tough and… I don’t know how to explain it man.

The hard-fought game did feature a huge margin in free throw attempts. Despite the Wolves’ relentless efforts, the lack of calls did get the best of them in the end. The Timberwolves are now on a two-game losing streak, as they’ll now face the Clippers.

Anthony Edwards continues to lead the Wolves

With Karl-Anthony Towns injured and being out indefinitely, Edwards has not failed to lead the team while performing at his best. Ant is putting up the best numbers of his career, with Wolves having become a serious threat in the West. In the last three games, he has put up more than 29 points per game, in the absence of Towns.

Edwards has been struggling from the arc, though still manages to bring a bigger impact on the offensive end of the floor. With less than 20 games left in the season, the Wolves will look to improve their standings, coming in as a top-three team in the West.

With Anthony-Towns out with a knee injury, there is no real update on his return. Minnesota will have to manage without their star center, with all eyes on Edwards. Their upcoming matches will be fascinating to watch for varied reasons.
