Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves last night pulled off a “remontada” in the 118-100 win against the Los Angeles Clippers on their home turf. The game was a must-win match for both sides, as they were previously on a two-game losing streak.

Edwards led the charge with an impressive 37 points, eight rebounds, and four assists in 37 minutes. He was ably assisted by Canadian teammate Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who scored 28 points, had three rebounds, and created one assist as well as Mike Conley Jr. who came up with 23 points and three rebounds and assists. All three combined for 88 points as the T-Wolves overcame a 22-point deficit.

Just a bunch of mismatches. Their best defender is Kawhi, he went down, and they were just putting two on me and trying stuff.

The Timberwolves, who were playing without Karl-Anthony Towns, who underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee on Tuesday, had the most miserable of starts as they were trailing by a whopping 22 points with five minutes left in the second quarter. But with Kawhi Leonard out, the Clippers appeared to lose their bearings and eventually lost the game.

The two-time All-Star, Edwards, this season is leading the charge for the T-Wolves once again put in an impressive performance with the call for him to be the next face of the NBA growing. This season he is averaging 26.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game.

Shaquille O’Neal praises Anthony “Ant Man” Edwards after comeback win against the Clippers

Shaquille O’Neal was full of praises for the young T-Wolves guard after an impressive outing that helped the Wolves overcome a 22-point deficit against the LA Clippers. He went as far as to compare him to two past great NBA players, Miami Heat legend, Dwyane Wade and the LA Lakers legend, the late Kobe Bryant.

During last night’s episode of “NBA on TNT” Shaq cited his amazing scoring abilities and competitiveness as the reason for making such huge comparisons.

This kid right here, he’s not stopping. He wants it. ...He reminds me of a young D-Wade and a young Kobe. He’s going to score. He’s going to get his every time. … I respect the kid and love the kid because he wants it.

While Edwards has showed elite-level performances, such as his decisive block against the Indiana Pacers, he still has a lot to do to be considered in the same breath as those legends. First, he has to guide the T-Wolves to a strong finish in the hotly contested Western Conference and a good outing in the postseason. But one thing is certain, the 2020 first overall draft pick is destined for greatness.
