Caitlin Clark recently set the record for most points scored in NCAA history by any gender.
Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown took a swipe at Caitlin Clark after she broke the NCAA record for most-points
Caitlin Clark is officially the highest scorer in NCAA college basketball. Her feat to be the best irrespective of gender has led to many calling her the college basketball GOAT. But some resorted to unwanted taunts at Clark. Notably, Antonio Brown, the former teammate of NFL legend Tom Brady, took a swipe at Clark after her monumental night. And fans reacted negatively to this unrequired shot.
Former NFL All-Pro wide receiver Brown put out a tweet from his official account where he congratulated Clark for breaking the NCAA record. Brown used a long-haired photo of Hollywood actor Mel Gibson from the movie Passion of Christ along with the congratulatory message. He was suggesting that Caitlin Clark is a man with long hair breaking the record playing against women. His tweet was viewed over 2.7 million times and was subject to a barrage of replies from fans serenading his uncalled shot.
The backdrop of this tweet was after Brown’s reply to a Bleacher Report tweet on their official page went viral. In the tweet they had Clark saying that someone called her ‘Ponytail Pete’. Brown replied to the tweet by writing;
Update: that’s the same dude.
Brown’s reply went viral with fans clamoring to bash his take. That reply alone was viral enough to prompt Brown to take out the second tweet mentioned above.
Antonio Brown was one of the most prolific wide receivers in the NFL. But his career was riddled with similar resentments against other players born out of jealousy. But he did not have to disregard the accomplishments of Clark, who has conquered college basketball in ways others have not.
Fans bash Antonio Brown for uncalled shot at Caitlin Clark
Caitlin Clark has done remarkable things during her collegiate career. While breaking the record, Clark has brought a lot of attention to women’s basketball. She had famous rappers and other celebrities attending her games. Now, her declaration to go to the WNBA next season has doubled ticket prices for the Indiana Fever.
With such an impact, fans could not understand how Antonio Brown could take a cheap shot at Clark. His efforts to undermine her saw fans react and troll the former Super Bowl champion on his account. Check out some of those reactions below;
It seems Antonio Brown does not appreciate greatness in anybody. He has a history of it throughout his life so far. But going after Caitlin Clark and her legacy-creating NCAA record was uncalled for.
