The NBA off-season has been full of surprises, but none more shocking than the trade that sent Chris Paul to the Golden State Warriors. The deal also involved Jordan Poole, who was once considered the future of the Warriors’ backcourt, going to the Washington Wizards. This trade caught everyone off guard. 

Even Lakers’ rising star Austin Reaves was shocked by the trade. During a recent appearance on the Full Send Podcast, Reaves shared how he felt when he learned about the trade. He described his disbelief and thought the news was fake, calling the trade “strange.”

Reaves talked about an incident during a children’s camp he and his brother organized in their hometown. One of his coaches hurried across the court to tell Reaves that the trade had happened. Reaves thought it might be a joke.

“Me and my brother had a kid’s basketball camp back home. One of the coaches ran across the gym and told me [about the trade]. I was like, you’re probably looking at like there’s B*ttcrack sports or something that always put out false stuff. He was like no, so I don’t know, that was strange,” Reaves said.

A recent Twitter prank caused some confusion among Lakers fans, as a fake account claimed that rookie Austin Reaves was spotted with Taylor Swift at a bar in his hometown of Newark, Arkansas. While most folks didn’t buy the rumors since Reaves is already in a relationship with his girlfriend, Jenna Barber, some fans still secretly hoped for something to spark between the Lakers star and the pop sensation.

Reaves cleared the air in a recent chat on the “Full Send Podcast“. They asked him about the buzz on Twitter about him and Swift. Reaves laughed it off and said it was all a joke and untrue. He admitted he had no clue where this news even came from. Everyone who knows him found it hilarious that they made up a story about Reaves leaving the house to hit a bar.

“Yeah, that sh*t was funny. Not real, no. I have no idea where it came from, but everybody that knows me knows I don’t go out, so everybody was like, the funniest part about all of this is Austin being at a bar,” Reaves said.
