The Los Angeles Lakers were to play against their perennial rivals today. In times of the past, the two were evenly matched teams. But today, the Lakers were entering the game as an under .500 team. The Boston Celtics, on the other hand, are the league leaders.

This lopsided matchup was only made more bizarre by the news of their two superstars not playing today. LeBron James and Anthony Davis decided to skip the game to rest their injuries. But surprisingly, the Lakers won the game. And it was their young, undrafted star, Austin Reaves who carried the team on his back.

Austin Reaves is a star for the Lakers. The undrafted player has had games with big numbers before. But no one could envision Reaves and the young players leading the Lakers to a win against the Celtics. Austin Reaves shot 55% from the field and 70% from deep. That efficiency was brought in with a fire in his heart. He went from generally adding to the scoreboard with James and Davis to leading the rest of the squad to a famous win. And basketball fans loved every moment of it.

The Boston Celtics have the best starting five of any team in the league. All 5 players are of All-Star caliber. If one of them has an off night, others can pick up the burden. Plus, they defend very well. The Celtics are one of the top teams in the league defensively. So to beat them 114-105 without either of the two Lakers All-Stars is commendable.

Reaves finished with 32 points to lead the Lakers. He had five other teammates putting up double-digit points. The Celtics, on the other hand, had only three double-digit scorers, two of which were starters. What cost the Celtics was poor efficiency from the three-point line. The overreliance on deep shots and almost double the turnovers led to an emphatic loss.

The Los Angeles Lakers were not expecting this result against the Boston Celtics. Their two superstars decided to not play in this game because a loss was expected. They used the perfect excuse to rest. Little did they know what their younger teammates would go out and achieve. Despite all those obstacles, Reaves and his teammates put on a show for fans to admire.
