Austin Reaves makes HUGE admission about future with the Lakers
Austin Reaves: The Undrafted Guard Making Waves with the Lakers
Shams Charania and Austin Reaves
Austin Reaves, the undrafted guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, has had a remarkable sophomore year, defying all expectations and emerging as a key player in the team’s success. The Lakers took a low-risk, high-reward chance on him, and it’s safe to say that it paid off. Reaves has been exceptional, and his contribution to the team is invaluable.
Although young, Reaves has demonstrated great potential, and the Lakers see him as a critical piece of their long-term plans. However, his future with the team is uncertain as he will be a restricted free agent this offseason, causing concern among some Lakers fans.
Fortunately, Reaves has put those worries to rest. In a recent interview with Shams Charania, the guard expressed his desire to remain with the Lakers organization. “I wanna be a Laker,” Reaves said. “Obviously, they gave me the first opportunity. I was a huge Laker fan growing up, big Kobe [Bryant] fan, so honestly, just to be able to play for the Lakers organization is special, and I wanna be a Laker, so hopefully we can get this done, and I can stay there for hopefully my whole career.”
Reaves has exhibited outstanding performance in the ongoing season, with an average of 13 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. He has also demonstrated his exceptional three-point shooting skills, scoring 39.8 percent of his threes, and a remarkable field-goal percentage of 52.9. Over his past 10 games, he has maintained an impressive average of 18.3 points, 6.1 assists, and 3.3 rebounds.
Austin Reaves’ Future with the Lakers
As the postseason approaches, some fans believe that the true test of a player’s ability is in the playoffs. Reaves will have a chance to prove himself in the coming days and weeks as the Lakers head to the play-in tournament and potentially a playoff series after that. It’s a chance for him to show what kind of player he is when the stakes are the highest.
It’s probable that other teams have noticed Reaves’ success, but the Lakers will undoubtedly make every effort to retain him. Negotiations still need to occur despite Reaves’ stated desire to remain with the Lakers.
Reaves’ current priority is the play-in tournament game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, which the Lakers only need to win to secure a spot in the playoff series. If the Lakers move forward, Reaves is expected to be a crucial player during the playoffs.
