The Los Angeles Lakers bounced back against the Orlando Magic on Sunday night, beating them 111-105. After a pair of two disappointing losses, the men in purple and gold found themselves in the winning column, keeping their postseason hopes alive. While LeBron James remains sidelined and with Anthony Davis struggling to get going, it was Austin Reaves who handled the business tonight.

The 24-year-old is still blossoming and enjoyed arguably the best night of his young career. He had a wonderful outing, finishing the game with 35 points, six assists, six rebounds, and a team-high +25. The emerging second-year undrafted star has truly established himself as a fan favorite in Los Angeles.

Reaves addressed the media following the game. When asked about James’ tweet, he expressed appreciation for the love and support from one of the greatest players in history. He further sarcastically thanked Sports Center for making his 2012 Facebook post mocking James go viral.

“For SportsCenter for airing me out for a post I made in 2012 about LeBron, I appreciate that. For him to accept me the way that he accepted me from day one… Stuff like that means a lot to me,” Reaves said.

Austin Reaves has gained a lot from playing under the leadership of a player like LeBron James. He may now be appreciating the NBA superstar’s greatness. Reaves, however, trolled King James for being ringless when he was 13 years old.

Reaves posted a meme on Facebook in April of 2012. The post included a photo of Kobe Bryant, LeBron James’ on-court rival at the time, and was quoted as follows: “When I need some peace and quiet I set my phone on LeBron mode, no ring.”

Little did he know, the man he trolled as a youngster would be sharing the locker room with him in roughly a decade. A young Reaves mocked James for not having a ring. The King now has four. And it’s safe to say that the youngster would be delighted to get James a fifth.
