Earlier this week, Austin Rivers expressed his feelings about the future of NBA star LeBron James‘ son Bronny James. Rivers said he did not want Bronny to play with his dad. Rivers, who is also a son of NBA star Doc Rivers, said he does not want Bronny to go through the same negativity that he did. And that he should form his own identity and reach his full potential in a contending team.

Stephen Jackson insulted Austin Rivers based on his comments in an interview with Sideline Sources. He said, 

And your daddy not LeBron. Shut up. Difference is you trash, Bronny not. You can’t compare to him scrub.

The internet came to Rivers defense and responded by saying Bronny is not better than Rivers was at the beginning of his career. Fans mentioned that Rivers was a better player in High School and College than Bronny.

Rivers responded to Jackson’s comments on social media. He said, 

All smiles…I didn’t even have to fight my own battles with ignorance, yall corrected it for me!! Thank you for not siding with delusion. Have a blessed day.

Rivers says he would have ignored the comments but the fans responded to Jackson and answered for him. Bronny James will be eligible for the 2024 NBA Draft. LeBron James has expressed in the past that he wants to play with his son.

Austin Rivers had one of the best careers coming out of school

NBA fans were not wrong when they defended Austin Rivers from Stephen Jackson for calling him worse than Bronny James. Austin Rivers had an amazing career as a high-schooler. Coming out of High School Rivers was one of the top-ranked players out of Florida.

He was the top point guard in the country in 2011 and was 3rd in his class. He was averaging 28.8 points with 51% FG. He was in the Top 100 for the class of 2011, 2nd team All-American in 2010, and 3rd team All-American in 2009.

On the other hand, Bronny averaged 14.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in his senior year. Based on stats, Rivers was comparatively better than Bronny in High School.
