The WNBA player has been recognised worldwide for her talent and what she has done for the sport of basketball in Russia itself. The Olympic medalist is being sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Recently, head coach of the WNBA team Las Vegas Aces Becky Hammon had a very clear explanation as to why Brittney Griner is being being wrongfully. In her interview with Reuters, she said, “In the time that she served over there, enough is enough. So many players have gone over to Russia including myself. She continued to urge the Russian President Vladmir Putin to “make the right decision” and release Griner. “It’s something that obviously hits super close to home for me and so I just ask the Russian government to do the right thing. It’s never too late to do the right thing. We’re asking for leniency. We’re asking for grace. And we’re asking to bring home BG.” She also added, “It’s hard to imagine, though, that if this was, you know, LeBron James, that he’d still be sitting over there in jail. It’s hard not to let your mind go there.”

The country has been criticising the United States government and Joe Biden’s administration for being extremely difficult during this situation.
