“I wish Jayson Tatum was a little bit more upset about the finals” Bill Simmons urges 3x All-Star to be more aggressive during upcoming 2022-23 Season

Jayson Tatum and the Celtics had a hell of a run the previous season coming short of only two wins to become champions again. And while Tatum had an amazing season, in the playoffs the young Celtic could not produce a performance that he has shown to be capable of and struggled against the Warriors. Boston die-hard and analyst Bill Simmons was not too happy with Jayson Tatum’s behaviour and reception to the outcome of the finals.

On The Bill Simmons Podcast, Analyst Bill Simmons commented how he wished Tatum was a bit more upset about losing to the Warriors. “If you’re the Celtics and you’re the Good Ship Lollipop right now, it’s going great. You’re this young team. Everyone’s got great contracts. Everybody likes each other. It came damn close. Do I wish Jayson Tatum was a little more upset about how the finals played out? How bad he was? Yeah, I do. I gotta be honest.”

Simmons further went on to compare the situation with Magic Johnson in the 1984 finals and illustrated with a Rocky reference, “Remember what happened to Magic Johnson after the 1984 Finals, just being in exile. Just being Rocky IV in the mountains, just like, ‘I gotta get back. I’m so humiliated.'”

The Celtics Will Look To Get Back Next Season

The Celtics are one of the best teams in the league. Their core is one of the most promising with multiple all-star calibre players like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown who in their young careers have shown their value to the team. And with Marcus Smart and Al Horford providing their knowledge as leaders and veterans on and off the court. The Celtics squad is one formidable team that will be a threat to any team in the league.

While the Boston Celtics couldn’t close the deal with Jayson admitting to having a fracture while the playoffs were going on, they still had an impressive season and a decent playoff run. They will be returning with one of the strongest teams in the league, in addition with the inclusion of Malcolm Brogdon and Danilo Gallinari, the roster is added with depth with the acquisition of the veterans. The Celtics will be out for revenge against the Warriors as they look to get back to the Finals and bring Boston its 18th trophy.
