“They are very hypocritical” Billionaire Elon Musk calls out US government on hypocrisy following Brittney Griner’s sentencing
Brittney Griner arrest was a rude awakening for the United States about their government and how the country is being administered. Earlier in February, the professional athlete was detained by the Russian authorities after being caught with Cannabis oil in his luggage. She had traveled to Russian to play for UMMC Ekaterinburg basketball team.
The WNBA All-Star was recently sentenced to prison for nine years. The jury had decided to reduce the jail time solely considering the fact that Griner had already spent half a year in prison. Her representatives claim that she is extremely upset of the verdict and wishes to reunite with her family and friends in the US.
World’s richest man Elon Musk responds to the Brittney Griner situation
Business mogul and owner of Tesla, Elon Musk is the most prominent person yet to have addressed the situation surrounding Brittney Griner’s arrest. “There are people in jail in America for the same stuff. Shouldn’t we free them too? My opinion is that people should not be in jail for non-violent drug crimes,” he said on the Full Send podcast.
The two hosts that accompanied Elon had also agreed with him calling out the Government. They addressed the situation as “hypocritical” because of the fact that several other commoners in the US are being jailed for the same reason. Yet, President Joe Biden is still trying to help the Phoenix Mercury player return despite her being in the same legal position.

United States government discusses potential swap with Russia
Several Americans have spoken out against the Russian government for using Brittney Griner are a pawn. She obviously was detained during the Russia-Ukrainian conflict and it seemed to be a dangerous situation to be caught in. Griner has been explaining how she feels ill-treated by the Russian authorities.
After showing almost no effort, the Biden administration have started to push for her release. It is rumored that the US has been discussing a potential swap involving illegal arms dealing Viktor Bout for Griner and former Marine Paul Whelan. There have been no leads on any sort of agreement but it will develop over the days to come.
