“I’d throw Herb Jones with Brandon Ingram” Bobby Marks believes that Pelicans are numero uno spot to land Kevin Durant

Bobby Marks talks about Kevin Durant trade
NBA World is yet to digest the biggest news of the 2023 preseason trades, yet it is to be finalized. Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant submitted a trade request, sending the whole league in frenzy. He is keen on moving away from the franchise, following Kyrie’s uncertain future at Brooklyn. This comes months after speculation with regards to Kyrie Irving’s long-term future with the franchise and the Nets are unwilling to give him a guaranteed contract. Many analysts put forward their views on the trade request, many calling it a smart move, while some targeted KD for his decision. Then there were potential suitors list for KD, nearly by all the media personalities, but as per reports, Durant showed interest in just two franchises as of now.
On ESPN’s basketball show NBA Today, KD’s future was discussed with regard to the trade destinations. Bobby Marks spoke about how a move to the New Orleans Pelicans is something that could be on the cards. New Orleans’ team was seen as distant favorites to land the 33-years-old megastar. But Marks believes that the Pelicans can submit the best trade package for Durant that the Nets might be willing to accept.

4-time scoring champion Kevin Durant is still a very intriguing prospect that surprisingly is available in the market. Interestingly he will be coming n with the 4-yearlong contract he signed with the Nets last summer, making him the most in-demand. While accepting the fact that half of the league is looking to sign KD, Bobby Marks puts New Orleans Pelicans as favorites for the trade.

Marks said, “I think it’s just clean. You get a player like Brandon Ingram, an All-Star. I actually even threw Herb Jones into the deal here. Didn’t need to make the money work but a big wing that can defend. Now you’re looking at all these picks, right. For me this is clean.”
48-years-old ESPN insider Marks also stated that there might be multiple teams involved in making such a trade happen. Looking at the hefty price teams need to pay for 2-time NBA Champion Durant, one team does not have all the assets that the Nets would want in return, as per marks.
He further explained, “My concern with Kevin Durant moving forward is that this is going to get complicated. We are going to be adding three and four teams as you can see teams don’t have many draft picks and to get the numbers up here, I don’t think it’s going to be a one-on-one type deal when Durant eventually does get trade.”
Though Kevin Durant’s heart seems set on a move away from the Brooklyn Nets, playing in a smaller market, with a possibly minimal shot at the tile won’t be his preference. The Nets hold the power to decide Durant’s destination, but considering his star power, he will also be involved in the trade discussions.
The franchise Marks proposed, endured a tumultuous season. They started 3-16 under first-year coach Willie Green in the months after announcing Zion Williamson had offseason foot surgery. The franchise nevertheless maintained its intention to make the playoffs, even without Williamson.
They only had Brandon Ingram doing most of the work for them, and then the acquisition of CJ McCollum from the Portland Trail Blazers at the trade deadline lifted some pressure off the youngster. After standing 36-46 at the end of January, New Orleans went 18-14 for the rest of the season. They did make it to the playoff after wins over the Spurs and Clippers, but lost in the first round to the top seed Phoenix Suns.

As for the pelicans, if they could end up getting Slip reaper in the trade, it will be a huge upgrade on Brandon Ingram. An experienced pairing of KD and McCollum, and a healthy Williamson could lead the Pelicans deep into the postseason.
However, Durant will still have lots of work to do at the Smoothie King Center, with head coach Willie Green, who was Assistant coach at the Warriors in Durant’s championship seasons. We will have to wait on the final output of the KD situation, till then many franchises would claim their chances on KD’s signature – even Brooklyn Nets.
