WATCH: Bradley Beal shows his ‘clutch-gene’ as the Wizards overcome the Bulls and defeated them 102-100

Bradley Beal
Bradley Beal hit a short-range shot with 7.4 seconds remaining to break a tie, and the Washington Wizards defeated the visiting Chicago Bulls 102-100 on Friday night after DeMar DeRozan missed a possible game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer. Beal was confined to 19 points but nailed two of Washington’s key shots of the night while also dishing out a game-high eight assists for the Wizards, who are 2-0 for the second time in a row.
After the teams exchanged baskets after a 98-98 tie, Beal went inside the Chicago defense late in the shot clock for the game-winning basket. The Bulls could do no better than DeRozan’s 28-foot buzzer-beater after a timeout, but it was off the mark. DeMar DeRozan grabbed a steal and a fast-break dunk to tie the game at 100 in a frantic sequence. Beal returned the following play and scored a mid-range bank jumper to give the Wizards a 102-100 lead. Beak talked about taking and making the game-winning shot after the game.
“I told myself, I’m going to get a shot, I’m going to make the shot,” Beal said. Beal also mentioned not being the leading scorer in this game. Kyle Kuzma led the Wizards in scoring with 26 points, six rebounds, and two assists in this game. “Don’t get it twisted, I’ll still go off for 30, 40, and 50 if I need to,” Bradley Beal said. “I have teammates who can score the ball and make plays too.“

The Bulls lost the game without Zach LaVine and Lonzo Ball for the second straight game, despite DeRozan’s game-high 32 points and Nikola Vucevic’s 24. Despite falling down by as much as six points early in the game, the Wizards maintained control for most of the night, building a 17-point lead midway through the third quarter but Chicago fought back, drawing even for the first time in the second half at 98-all with 1:19 remaining on two free throws by DeRozan.
With 1:04 left, Bradley Beal turned an Anthony Gill pass into a layup to put Washington back in front, only for DeRozan to respond with a slam with 31.5 seconds remaining. For the Wizards, Kristaps Porzingis had 14 points and Rui Hachimura had 12. Deni Avdija led the game in rebounding with ten. Beal made nine of his 14 shots, while Kuzma made eight of his 16, as the Wizards outshot the visitors 51.2 percent to 41.8 percent. DeRozan (10-for-11) and Vucevic (12-for-12) accomplished the majority of their damage at the free throw line, where the Bulls utilized a 27-10 edge to keep the game alive.
