Brittney’s family and supporters had started the “#WeAreBG” campaign to pressure US President Joe Biden’s administration. They believe her arrest on drug charges in February was a mistake and appealed to the Biden administration to act quickly for her release. On the other hand, the US State Department firmly believes that Brittney Griner is wrongfully detained. The US officials even made a concrete proposal to free the WNBA star, but no further actions have been taken yet.

All these factors have severely affected her mental and physical health. Brittney stated that she is strengthened by the love she has received while being detained in Russia. She said, “Thank you everyone for fighting so hard to get me home. All the support and love are definitely helping me”.
