“HELL YEAAA.. can show off my tattoos” Brittney Griner finally started enjoying life with FREEDOM after joining the WNBA

WNBA superstar Brittney Griner, unquestionably one of Baylor University’s greatest athletes in history, acknowledges that she didn’t always felt comfortable being a member of the Lady Bears because of people’s criticism of her tattoos. But Griner eventually showed off her tattoos after making her eagerly awaited WNBA debut.

Brittney Griner, who was detained at a Russian airport in February and is currently being held captive in a Russian jail, is still making the headlines. While she is imprisoned in Russia, the sporting world has been impatiently anticipating her return home. Two-time Olympic gold medalist and Women’s National Basketball Association standout Griner was found guilty of marijuana possession earlier in August and was sentenced to nine years in jail by a Russian court. While playing for the Baylor Bears, she established herself as one of the top athletes in the country, but stardom prevented her from revealing her true self since she was compelled to cover up her tattoos and hide her sexual orientation.

Brittney Griner’s current scenario

Brittney Griner has been detained by Russian police ever since her apprehension at Sheremetyevo International Airport in February. The seven-time all-star and two-time WNBA defensive player of the year was captured by Russian Customs in possession of vape cartridges containing cannabis oil. After being found guilty of narcotics offences in Russia, Griner was given a nine-year prison sentence in August. On August 15, Griner’s legal team filed an appeal against her nine-year sentence. They believe that Griner’s sentence is still “excessive” notwithstanding the possibility that she may have gotten up to 10 years in jail. The defense attorneys claim that in comparable instances across Russia, other convicted offenders received a lesser sentence, and some of them even received parole.

On August 11, Russian officials revealed that they along with the American government were in talks about a possible prisoner swap, which may have given Brittney Griner the chance to visit her family for the first time since her imprisonment. The Biden administration believes that she is being held in violation of the law because Viktor Bout, a well-known Russian arms dealer who was given a 25-year sentence in 2011, has reportedly been mentioned in connection with a prospective prisoner swap. Griner, 31, is a player with the Phoenix Mercury and has won two Olympic gold medals. She has also participated in UMMC Ekaterinburg’s WNBA offseason matches in Russia since 2014.

Griner’s life in the shadows at Baylor

Administrators apparently also asked her to wear long sleeves underneath her jersey to conceal her tattoos. She also made a suggestion that she regularly felt alienated as a result of Baylor’s anti-homosexuality policy. She can’t help but believe that the college benefited from her presence even if she hasn’t accepted who she is as a person.

She was one of the nation’s most sought-after prospects due to her accomplishments in college.

Despite the fact that it is regretful that she doesn’t have a good relationship with Baylor in light of everything that she gave to the university and the achievements it enabled, Griner may find comfort in the knowledge that she continues to inspire people on a daily basis.
