“She’s becoming an animal” Brittney Griner’s mom only knew the ferociousness of daughter after being hit by her
Brittney Griner
WNBA star Brittney Griner celebrated her 32nd birthday in the Russian prison. She is stuck in Russia after being detained at the Moscow Airport under drug possession charges in February 2022. Brittney’s mother, Sandra Griner, recently narrated an incident when she was trying to wake Brittney up when she was small.
Griner’s sister Pier would come to wake her up, and her method was to shake Brittney up, which she never liked. Brittney would move her arms and occasionally smack Pier Griner when she leaned to poke at her. However, once, Brittney Griner, unnoticing her mother, hit her hard while her eyes were closed. The 32-year-old ended up knocking her mother in the head. After the incident, Griner’s mother woke her up from a distance and waited until she finally got out of bed. Griner revealed this incident in her book back in 2014.
Britney’s mother sometimes cooked her favorite food to get her out of bed. She said, “All she had to do was sizzle some bacon in the skillet, and as soon as I smelled it, I was out of bed and on my way to the breakfast table.” This became a sure-shot method her mother started to pull her out of bed. When her mother was hit, she learned about the WNBA star’s powerful side.
Brittney Griner is struggling in the Russian prison
A news report reveals that Brittney Griner is facing extremely harsh conditions in Russian prison. From intermittent showers to regular headaches, Griner continues to struggle. Her lawyer Alexander Boykov told The New York Times, “She has not been in as good condition as I could sometimes find her in.” He even described the penal colony where Griner is currently housed and said the temperature inside fluctuates dramatically depending on the weather.
He also stated that she is only allowed outdoors for one hour each day. Britney Griner’s wife, Cherelle Griner, detailed a ‘disturbing phone call’ she shared with her, expressing concern that Griner may not have the mental stability to forge on.
