“Bro is a clown” – Fans troll the life out of Joel Embiid as Russell Westbrook reveals game-changing uncalled foul

The Los Angeles Lakers hosted the Philadelphia 76ers in an enthralling yet controversial matchup on Sunday. The contest ended up in a one-point game and the Philadelphia 76ers ended up with the win with a scoreline of 113-112 led by Joel Embiid. The aforementioned controversy was associated with the final play of the game. After forcing a miss out of Philly, Head Coach of the Lakers, Darvin Ham, refused to call timeout with the thought of not letting the defense settle.

Instead, he let his team go quick. This did provide LA with an advantage as it left the Philadelphia 76ers with unfavourable matchups, such as Joel Embiid having to guard Russell Westbrook on the perimeter with the ball. Trying to go around Embiid, Westbrook drove to the baseline. In the replays it looked like Embiid was only able to slow Westbrook down because he grabbed his right hand, which should be a foul and would’ve given the Lakers the chance to win the game at the charity stripe.

After the game, Westbrook made his feelings clear and said that Embiid fouled him on the botched final play of the game. The Philadelphia 76ers star however, had a slightly different view on the situation, to say the least. According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, Embiid said “I don’t think I fouled him. He was unlucky because he lost the ball. I would say he was unlucky.”

Embiid’s statement was not very convincing and came across as that. Of course, Lakers fans and NBA Twitter characteristically didn’t let the opportunity to complain about and troll Embiid’s statement pass them by.

Most fans took this opportunity to point out how ridiculous Embiid’s proclamation of not fouling Russ is. Especially considering that it can be seen from multiple camera angles that he grabbed his wrist.

The Philadelphia 76ers improved to 7-3 in the last 10 and 27-16 overall with their win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday. This run of form has allowed them to leapfrog the Cleveland Cavaliers for the #4 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Sixers now sit only .5 games behind a struggling Milwaukee Bucks team. The season has been highlighted by the stellar play of Joel Embiid who added a 35-point double-double performance to add to his season.

Embiid’s scoring output has taken a jump and he’s averaging a career-high 33.4 PPG. Good enough for 2nd in the league this year behind only Luka Doncic. This jump in scoring has undoubtedly been helped by the playmaking of James Harden. Harden assisting Embiid is the most common passer-scorer combination in the entire league this season. The dynamic duo has been at the head of the Sixers’ resurgence after a slow start and the team will be hoping to bring at least the conference finals back to the City of Brotherly Love for the first time since the days of Allen Iverson.
