Milwaukee Bucks center Brook Lopez is a veteran in the league. Having played 16 seasons in the NBA, he is quite well-versed in how a game plays out. However, in tonight’s game against the Charlotte Hornets, Lopez had a moment with the ball in his hands, leaving fans puzzled as to what went on through his mind in that moment.
Early in the 1st quarter, Brook Lopez brought the ball up to the Hornets half. Even with no one around him to defend, Lopez still looked for an outlet to pass the ball. He pivoted on his foot to look for Damian Lillard.
With Lillard’s defender slightly away from him, Lopez attempted to pass him the ball, only for the pass to be so weak that Lopez stretched out and caught the ball again. Lopez then pivoted back and launched a three-pointer. This entire sequence left fans scratching their heads.
Lopez may have proper intentions in trying to find their leading two scorers. After all, he is now behind Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Lillard in the scoring pecking order. However, his actions to find those teammates were dumbfounding. He had the space to go for the shot himself. No one from the Hornets was guarding him initially. Lopez could have driven the ball toward the interior and tried to score himself.
Lopez contributed 11 points en route to a 111-99 win for the Milwaukee Bucks against the Charlotte Hornets. This win marks the fourth straight win for the team under head coach Doc Rivers after he opened his tenure with a 3-7 record. The Bucks head into their toughest month of the season. Almost all their games in March are against playoff teams.
