The nail-biting Eastern Conference Finals have come to an end. After constant ups and downs, the Miami Heat prevailed and won the series 4-3. Although the Boston Celtics lost the series, they played exceptionally well to take the series to the final Game. However, it all ended in disappointment as they were trounced by a margin of 19 points by Jimmy Butler and Co.
As usual, at the end of the series, everyone was waiting for the announcement of the MVP. Jimmy Butler won the Eastern Conference Finals MVP for his phenomenal run in this series. Although he looked like he was struggling in a few games, he had a solid contribution. Butler scored at an average of 24.7 points per game with 7.6 rebounds and 6.1 assists. For many, it was almost a no-brainer that the star guard was the best player in the series.
Despite Jimmy Butler‘s fantastic performance, there are quite a few who disagreed with the verdict. Some fans and critics believe that Caleb Martin was more deserving of the Eastern Conference Finals MVP award.
In contrast to Butler, Martin averaged 19.3 points per game with 6.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists. Although his numbers fall short, his contribution and presence on the court was of great significance. In fact, Caleb Martin came very close to even winning the MVP award as he fell short by just one vote. Butler won by a result of 5-4.

Twitter reacts to Jimmy Butler winning Eastern Conference Finals MVP
Just like everything else, fans took to Twitter to convey their disapproval of the MVP verdict. Many argue that Martin was more deserving due to his consistency. Others believe that he was the better all-around player, irrespective of what the statistics reflect. As many claim that Martin was “robbed”; here are a few reactions:
The Miami Heat will now face the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals. Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray have led the Nuggets brilliantly. Moreover, they are coming off a series sweep after beating the Los Angeles Lakers and are very well-rested. Denver has been the definition of dominance this season and will look to continue playing that way.
The Miami Heat, on the other hand, have created a history of their own. They are now only the second team to make it to the NBA Finals after having the eighth seed. Moreover, the Heat has faced off and emerged victorious against a number one seed this postseason already (Milwaukee Bucks). Their ultimate test comes against the number one seed of the Western Conference and they would be more than willing to take up that challenge. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how the NBA Finals pans out.
