Cam Thomas joined the elite company of LeBron James in a record but didn’t seem too excited about that. The young Brooklyn Nets star scored 47 points in a game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday. His 47 points against the Clippers came after 44 against the Washington Wizards. In the media interaction when a reporter told him about the record that he shared with James, Thomas said he was a Kobe Bryant fan so would have been more excited, had his name been mentioned alongside him.
Thomas said that having been mentioned with players like LeBron is an excellent feeling, however, he was a Kobe fan. He also said to be mentioned along with him would have made him a little more excited. “That’s a great company… I’m a Kobe guy though, so if you said Kobe I would’ve been a little more excited,” said Thomas. His love for Kobe comes as no surprise. His offensive arsenal is one of the sharpest and most lethal among the young NBA players. He has developed his game on the lines of greatest scorers and now that he is given a chance to be on the floor, he is shining.
From the opening tip, Thomas looked like he was determined to attack the basket. He picked up from exactly where he had left against the Washington Wizards. Since finding himself in the starting line-up and the primary option for offense, Cam has accepted his role and responsibilities. He looked more confident with his game and shot without hesitation like a veteran.

Nets fail to overcome Clippers despite 47 points of heroic from Cam Thomas
The Nets lost the game to the Clippers 124-116 on Monday. The game was close in the first half of the game, but the Clippers took hold of the game in the second half. For the Brooklyn Nets, Thomas scored a game-high 47 points, while having three assists. Nic Claxton and Royce O’Neale both had 15 points to themselves. Leading the Clippers’ offense, Paul George scored 29 points, alongside Kawhi Leonard who scored 24 points. Ivica Zubac and Norman Powell had 19 and 14 points respectively.
Royce took care of most of the offense in the second half. He provided Brooklyn with a second scoring option in absence of their superstar Kevin Durant. KD is expected to return to the team after the All-Star break. His former teammate Kyrie Irving demanded a trade before the deadline and later moved to Dallas Mavericks. With KD and Irving on the floor, Brooklyn had one of the best records in the NBA this season. It remains to be seen what Durant decides about his future with the Nets, knowing that he himself had demanded the trade this offseason.
