The Memphis Grizzlies take a hard loss against the Los Angeles Lakers, as they exit the postseason in the first round. The Lakers had a tough journey, coming out of the Play-In and now, getting past the first round. LeBron James and company will now face the winner of the Kings and Warriors series. Whereas the young Grizzlies will look into their flaws and plan their next season.
Overall, Memphis had a great season, finishing second in the West. Ja Morant’s injury did play a role as the Grizzlies went ahead. As for other scorers like Desmond Bane, who did great on their part, Memphis didn’t play like a team in this series. Compared to their regular season performance, the Grizzlies hadn’t organized their offense like it was. Following this loss, fans had all sorts of comments for Ja Morant and Desmond Bane.
Morant however didn’t give his all in this elimination game. Ja managed to put up 10 points while shooting 18% from the field. For a win-or-go-home game, no one expected Morant to have such a bad shooting night. Fans all over social media mocked Ja on his words, ‘I’m fine in the West’. While his prediction didn’t really come true, as the West is now filled with elite players, ranging from All-Stars to champions.
Following the Game 6 loss, Morant’s performance wasn’t taken lightly by either critics or the fans. Though Ja took the blame, saying he has to get better off the court, the views on the Grizzlies or Morant’s performance didn’t change.

More than his performance, Morant’s off-court incidents were shared as memes around the internet. Though Morant knew what had impacted the team. “I just got to be better with my decision-making. Off-the-court issues affected us as an organization,”, said Morant. “Cancun need to tighten up its gun laws”, was one of the comments made by a fan, hinting at the off-season vacation that NBA players usually take. Not only that, but Ja also had to face criticism from last year’s postseason performance versus the Warriors.
As the season comes to an end, Memphis’ front office should better get busy. With its young core in the play, the Grizzlies need a veteran on their roster to guide the exceptional talent on the team. Morant and Bane have proven to be the franchise’s future. Whereas a few changes need to be made in the defensive end, where the team has lacked in the postseason. It will be interesting to see how the Grizzlies come back next season.
