“Nikola Jokic will be pleased” Carmelo Anthony potentially on his way to join hands with Nuggets

Carmelo Anthony is still an unrestricted free agent and the Los Angeles Lakers look least interested in offering him another deal after their terrible last season with the veteran roster. So it’s time for the forward to move on and get himself a new deal with a different franchise. His next destination can be Denver Nuggets where he started his professional career in the league as several reports claim. The Nuggets drafted Carmelo Anthony 3rd overall in the 2003 Draft and that’s the team where he felt like home as he spent most of his time there before joining the New York Knicks.

Last season coming off the bench for the LeBron James-led Los Angeles Lakers, Carmelo Anthony averaged 13.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1 assist, 0.7 steals and 0.8 blocks. He is no more in his prime years but is still lethal on the court when has the ball in his hands to shoot. Carmelo Anthony is still a solid role player and can be a great difference maker coming off the bench as his size and skillset are advantageous not only in the post but also the mid-range as he’s a certified shooter and still has heated-up hands. The Lakers were terrible last season and didn’t even make it to the play-in tournament but it wasn’t him at fault. As the veteran roster was low on chemistry and had several other issues. So Melo still being a free agent is just unfair as he deserves a better chance.

In the ongoing offseason, Carmelo Anthony has been grinding in the gym and improving his game on both ends. As he will be entering in his 20th season soon and still wants to be the guy a team trusts with the ball when the game is on the line. He already has one of the deepest mid-range bags in the league and is still improving and getting better on the rest of his game. If the Denver Nuggets bring him in, the team will surely raise their level as his experience and veteran role come free with his shooting greats.

Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets already have a lot of history together. As the forward also led them to the conference finals in 2009 and brought the Mile High City back to life. He’s still ringless and the Denver Nuggets have all the potential to get the job done. So joining hands with them is surely a great deal for both the sides. He’ll be coming off the bench and helping Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Michael Porter JR who are stars of the team.

The Nuggets also have a young bench so Melo can play a good and great role in teaching them the winning culture as he has seen it all. The team can also run a new system with him leading the scoring end via his shooting greats as they’ll always have their Big Three backing him up. But still, there’s no deal on the table and nothing can be said or predicted about Carmelo Anthony’s future but Denver is surely an option on the list and soon things will be more clear. As the training camp is just some weeks away.
