Cleveland Cavaliers center Tristan Thompson has come under scrutiny for the worst possible reason. He was suspended for 25 games by the league earlier today after he violated the anti-drug program. A 12-year veteran to do this resulted in fans calling out the long-time Cavaliers star.

Tristan Thompson is a role player on the Cavaliers. However, his use of growth hormone stimulator Ibutamoren and muscle enhancer SARM LGD-4033 has led the NBA to suspend him. The league and the NBPA are very strong in their commitment to anti-doping regulations. Thompson being a veteran, could not have not known this could happen. The Cavaliers star’s suspension will begin with the game against the Milwaukee Bucks. This suspension should see him return to the lineup on March 16th.

The irony is that the Cavaliers have the best record in this month with an 8-1 run. The Cavaliers will play more than half of those suspended games against playoff teams. It will be interesting how the bench rotation is worked out by head coach J.B. Bickerstaff. The big men of the Cavaliers are an important aspect of their game.

Not that Thompson is an integral part of the rotation. Thompson is averaging 3.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 12.4 minutes of playtime. But an unforeseen injury to one of their starting big men can disrupt their playoff chances.

Basketball fans have been seeing Tristan Thompson in the limelight for the wrong reasons recently. They however could not have seen this one coming. After all, basketball is his first job. Something he has been doing for a long time. He knows the ins and outs of the league and its rules. So this latest gaffe from the former NBA Champion had fans losing it.

Once the news broke from Shams Charania of The Athletic, fans were quick to call out the Cavaliers center. For an NBA star who is mostly a rotational player, involving themselves in such things is almost a career-ending move. Check out the fans’ comments on social media below;
