Celtics fans feel ROBBED after Kristaps Porzingis-Marcus Smart trade deal

Marcus Smart was recently exchanged in a three-team trade deal by the Boston Celtics to land Kristaps Porzingis. The front office of the Boston-based team believes Kristaps Porzingis is the missing piece holding them back from winning titles. Earlier the Boston Celtics, Washington Wizards, and Los Angeles Clippers agreed on a three-team trade deal. But that didn’t fall through as the Clippers were concerned about Malcolm Brogdon’s medical history and backed out.

The Boston Celtics though were very serious to land Kristaps Porzingis whose deadline to opt-in the player option was hours away. So they pivoted the talks to Memphis Grizzlies and ended up exchanging Marcus Smart for Kristaps Porzingis. The Washington Wizards also received Tyus Jones, Danilo Gallinari, Mike Muscala, and the 35th pick in the second round of the coming NBA Draft.

The Boston Celtics thought ended up exchanging Marcus Smart, former DPOY and very important key player of their system for not just Kristaps Porzingis. But they also got 2 first-round picks. Marcus Smart was a crucial player in the system who was responsible for the defensive greats of the team and he was also a brilliant playmaker.

The Celtics fans aren’t riding with this trade. As many believe Marcus Smart to be better than Kristaps Porzingis in the system. But now it’s a done deal and the Cs have exchanged Marcus Smart for Kristaps Porzingis and first-round picks. They are surely going to miss him and his extra efforts on the defensive end maybe Kristaps Porzingis’ offensive bag and defensive skills will fill some gaps.

Marcus Smart has been a very important player behind the franchise’s success throughout his time with them. Last season he averaged 11.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.4 blocks. He shot 33.6% from downtown and 41.5% from the field. He was the fire of the team and was capable of having an immediate impact on the game by locking the opponent’s star player up.

So the fans aren’t happy with him no more being a part of the Boston Celtics system. They are clowning the front office for the exchange as they don’t like it and believe they settled for a little too less while trading away former DPOY, Marcus Smart. But we shouldn’t underestimate the new Big 3 of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porzingis. As Kristaps Porzingis is just coming off a career year with the Wizards. If the three superstars are able to ball down and get in the zone. The league is going to be in serious trouble guarding three offensive stars who can play defense maybe not like Marcus Smart but good enough to be alive in the championship run.
