NBA legend Kevin Garnett, renowned for his powerful performances as a forward during his career, is reported to continue receiving payments from the Boston Celtics since his retirement in 2016.
Reports indicate that the NBA Hall of Famer, who played for the Celtics from 2007 to 2013, has been receiving a substantial annual payment of $5 million dollars even after his departure from the team in 2013.
Garnett, drafted as the fifth overall pick in the 1995 NBA draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, made an immediate impact upon entering the league. His tenure with the Timberwolves concluded when he was traded to the Boston Celtics in 2007. He played with the Celtics until the 2013 NBA season, during which he earned his first championship ring in 2008.
Even though Garnett’s tenure with the Celtics concluded after the 2013 NBA season, the NBA legend negotiated a deal with the team before leaving, which entitles him to receive $5 million annually until 2024.
Reports indicate that over the past seven years since his retirement in 2016, Garnett has earned a total of $35 million dollars from the Celtics as a result of this arrangement. Fans worldwide regard this deal as a shrewd and advantageous move by the former NBA player.
Kevin Garnett says Kawhi Leonard is one of those “lost” superstars
In a media interaction, Kevin Garnett expressed his high expectations for the LA Clippers star, Kawhi Leonard, considering him one of the best players in the league. However, he also noted that Leonard is one of the lost superstars in the league
Garnett said, “I feel like Kawhi is one of them lost superstars, He’s like Roy Jones [Jr.], ‘we must have forgot’. We forgot how f**king nice Kawhi is. Cause Kawhi is one of them ones. When he’s it bro, he’s on that list with KD, he’s one that list with Bron, he’s on that list as those top fives. I’m looking for him and PG to get back and restore order.”
Kawhi Leonard has undeniably built a legendary career in the NBA. With two NBA titles and two Finals MVP awards to his name, he is known for his dynamic scoring and staunch defense, making him one of the best players in the league. However, issues related to injuries and load management have, at times, led some to overlook his status as a superstar in the league.
