“I don’t wanna win with that Sh*thead” Celtics reporter rubbishes all reports of team trying to acquire 2x champ Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant
After a whirlwind of trade speculations swept the NBA, star forward Kevin Durant has decided to stay with the Brooklyn Nets. The Boston Celtics, who are coming off a run through the Eastern Conference to the NBA Finals, were one of the more intriguing clubs interested in the Durant sweepstakes. Many others thought it was a no-brainer to add Durant to a squad like that. However, not everyone.
Longtime Celtics writer Bob Ryan is among many who would never want Kevin Durant on the team. Ryan went off on Durant during an interview on his podcast with Jeff Goodman, as posted by Celtics on CLNS on Twitter. Ryan stated that he was relieved that the Celtics did not deal for Durant because he does not want to win “with that shit-head”

Durant’s time with the Nets did not go as planned. The expectation was that he and Kyrie Irving would become a formidable one-two punch for Brooklyn. Instead, they rarely played together, and their friendship seemed to have strained towards the end. Durant had no touch with Irving after he agreed to terms with the Nets. That made a trade appear unavoidable.
Surprisingly, Durant and Irving only played 58 of 247 total games together throughout their Nets tenure (postseason included). The two’s injuries, as well as Irving’s unwillingness to take the COVID-19 vaccination, limited the amount of time they spent on the court together. As a result, Brooklyn’s two aces were never able to carry the club for lengthy amounts of time.
Even when James Harden was added to the mix, it didn’t work. Before Harden demanded a trade out of Brooklyn, the “Big 3” appeared in only 16 games together. Durant struggled to win in Brooklyn due to a lack of playing time with Irving and Harden. In three years there, he only won one series and had an overall record of 7-9 in 16 postseason games. And the Nets went 0-4 in the four games he missed while rehabbing from a ruptured Achilles.
Kevin Durant back in the Nets
After recent developments Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets have agreed to terms. A trade request that shocked the team and dominated NBA headlines has been withdrawn. The Nets will return to the court next season with their All-Star forward — and their championship chances intact. The Nets announced Tuesday that the team’s leadership met with Kevin Durant and business partner Rich Kleiman in Los Angeles the day before and “decided to go ahead with our collaboration.”
Marks, along with coach Steve Nash and owners Joe and Clara Wu Tsai, attended the meeting. “We’re concentrating on basketball with one aim in mind: to develop a long-lasting team that will bring a championship to Brooklyn,” Marks continued. Bob Ryan on the other hand was blunt about Kevin Durant, noting that as a Celtics supporter and writer, he would not want to win with “that sh*t head.” One can envision the Nets star holding his phone, ready to respond to Ryan on Twitter.
In all seriousness, Ryan did mention that he loves the Celtics’ current core, which has seen young talents like Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Marcus Smart bloom into some of the league’s best players. The addition of Malcolm Brogdon and Danilo Gallinari, who just sustained a knee injury, should only help Boston.
