NFL legend Chad Johnson is known for making bold claims about his basketball skills, even suggesting that NBA players used to seek his help to prepare for the season. During a recent episode of “Club Shay Shay” with Shannon Sharpe, he made another audacious statement. Johnson asserted that he defeated LeBron James during the latter’s time with the Miami Heat.
In his appearance on the show’s segment, “Nighttime with Unc and Ocho,” Chad Johnson recounted the time he bet LeBron $1,000 on a pickup game in Miami, claiming to have won 21-17. He recalled that he even humiliated James by breaking his ankles with a move. According to Chad, LeBron praised his quickness and basketball skills.
“I beat him 21-17 for a thousand dollars. “I am like that on the court, he didn’t know that until we played. He’s like, ‘God damn Ocho you’re quick as hell.’ I caught him off the dribble and he fell. Yeah, I’m like that, I just chose to not play basketball, like soccer,” he said.
This isn’t the boldest claim he has ever made. Chad also asserted once that he could join the Miami Heat and win the Sixth Man of the Year award at the age of 45. Moreover, Johnson suggested that people could ask players like Carmelo Anthony, Russell Westbrook, and others about his abilities.
Chad Johnson claims that he also beat Damian Lillard in a 1v1
LeBron James isn’t the only NBA superstar Chad Johnson claims to have defeated in a 1v1 pickup game. According to him, he also bested Milwaukee Bucks’ newest acquisition Damian Lillard in a one-on-one match during the latter’s time in Portland.
Chad said he accomplished this feat while visiting an IHOP in Portland and even wrote it down, along with tipping the staff $1,000. He wrote, “I beat Damian Lillard in 1 on 1, years ago at the YMCA.”
However, Damian Lillard has denied the claim that he ever lost to Chad Johnson during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers. Ultimately, the claims made by Chad Johnson are incredibly far-fetched and should be taken with a grain of salt.
