Charles Barkley, Moses Malone and Dr. J have done some real gangster things back in the days on the NBA hardwood. The Sixers were a solid team having these three stars on board but never got fortunate enough to win a title but were a serious contender every time. Their rivalry with the Larry Bird-led Boston Celtics was a real one as it was out of pure hate against each other and they always had something left to prove to one another. But one time during their preseason showdown things didn’t age well between the two teams. And, Charles Barkley with Moses Malone and other Sixers ended up jumping Larry Bird.
The NBA back in the days especially during the 80s and early 90s was really very physical. As taunts, elbows and verbal exchanges then could have resulted in the guys involved box it out on the floor itself. Players back in the days have had guns pulled out against each other and have also received death threats from their colleagues in the league. Now, the time has changed and the old heads call the league soft.
Charles Barkley today is a respected man, legend, Hall of Famer and analyst. But during his playing career, he was the most controversial guy out there and still holds many unwanted records and headlines under his name. Even today Charles Barkley is regarded as one of the toughest guys in the league’s history. So him and his gang of Sixers players destroying Larry Bird by punching him straight on the face right on the court is very understandable.

It all started with some verbal exchanges and trash talks but ended up with the Cs getting thrashed by the Philly gang. Larry Bird and Charles Barkley both are and were some of the best trash-talkers out there. So them battling it all out with the words was always a case. But that particular day things went a little too far away and Larry was used as a punching bag by Dr. J while Sir Charles and Moses Malone held him from behind.
Charles Barkley and everyone else involved after their career ended made peace with each other and now are on good terms. But the league is really soft these days with officials throwing flagrant and technical fouls without no solid reason. So just in case if anyone gets beaten up like Larry got by the Sixers, a lifetime ban from the league on the guys doing it won’t shock many around.
