Charles Barkley, who is never afraid to speak his thoughts, explained how black schools encourage their students to feel that their only professional options are in sports or entertainment. Chuck described how he conducted this experiment during an interview with Graham Bensinger in 2016 when he was speaking at a school.

“Let’s say I’m at a white school, I said how many of you kids want to play pro sports, less than 10% raise their hands. I said what do you wanna do, ‘I wanna be a doctor, lawyer, or engineer’ but when I go speak at predominantly black schools, 90% of the kids wanna play sports,” revealed Charles Barkley.

He continued, “They’ll be a couple like, ‘I wanna be a doctor,’ which makes me really proud but 90% of kids when I speak at black schools, they are kids that are brainwashed to think they can only play sports and be entertainers.” He also said, “You got a better chance of being a doctor and a lawyer than playing in the NBA. I’d say they are 400 players in the NBA, what are the chance you’re gonna be one of the best 400 players in the world?”

Micheal Jordan and Charles Barkley

Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley used to be passionate NBA rivals and best friends. However, according to Barkley, who recently spoke with Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks, the Chicago Bulls icon and he hasn’t spoken in ten years since Jordan took issue with some criticism Barkley made on television.

“It’s a really unfortunate situation for me and him. But I’m going to do my job first and foremost. I can’t criticize other coaches and general managers and give him a pass because he’s my best friend. I just can’t do that,” Charles Barkley said.

“What I said was, ‘Michael’s got to surround himself with better people,’” Charles Barkley said. “And I said, ‘I worry about him being successful.’ Because when you’re a star, because he’s the biggest star I’ve ever been around, everybody around you is going to tell you what you want to hear.

He concluded by saying, “And I didn’t think he had a good enough supporting cast around him in the front office to be successful. I said that, and I had no problem saying it because it was the truth. And he took offense. And he called me, and it wasn’t a pleasant conversation, and we haven’t spoken since then.”
