Charles Barkley asserts how Clippers will have a ‘WASTED’ season if Kawhi Leonard and Paul George do not return in time
Kawhi Leonard Paul George and Charles Barkley
Former player turned analyst Charles Barkley thinks the Los Angeles Clippers can’t reach the league finals if their two marquee scorers, Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, do not return in time. Both these LA Clippers players are warming the bench due to respective injury. After catastrophic 2021-22 season, fans had pinned their hopes on these two to bring the trophy home. But now that looks like a distant dream.
Charles Barkley was talking on the show ‘Inside the NBA,’ where he quoted, “If they don’t get Kawhi and Paul George, it’s just a wasted season. They could finish 1st in the West, but if Kawhi and Paul George are out all season, they’re not going to win a playoff series… This is getting troublesome Ernie. You gotta show up. You gotta play basketball. The Clippers were my preseason pick, but I’m really starting to get worried.”
Kawhi Leonard seems to be struggling with consecutive injuries since last season, while his counterpart Paul George is nursing a hamstring injury.
Since the two were brought on the Clippers’ roster, they were believed to lead them to a championship win. But if they constantly stay out of the team, it will be difficult for the franchise to lay their hands on the same silverware.
Los Angeles Clippers register back-to-back wins against the Portland Trailblazers
The LA Clippers franchise seems to have got a new star in Norman Powell, who scored 22 of his 32 points in the fourth quarter as his team thumped the Portland Trail Blazers 118-112. Moreover, Reggie Jackson gave in much-needed support by scoring 24 points and 12 assists. Ivica Zubac added 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Clippers fought back from trailing 95-82 after three quarters. All credit goes to Norman, who shot 7 for 9 from the field in the last quarter. Portland slumped to another loss resulting in their tenth loss of the season. Simons scored nine 3-pointers in the 37 points he scored. Jerami Grant had 32 points. Justise Winslow added 10 points and 13 rebounds, and Jusuf Nurkic finished with 13 points and ten rebounds.
With their key players Paul George and Kawhi Leonard missing, the team is performing better but for how long can they keep up the momentum? Once these two return, the franchise cannot stop as they can pose a formidable challenge to other NBA teams. Los Angeles Clippers will look to continue their winning form against the Utah Jazz, and the trailblazers will clash against the Los Angeles Lakers, looking to pocket some wins.
