“Offer me something crazy…If they triple it what I am making now”: Charles Barkley discusses what type of offer may recruit him to controversial LIV Golf
Charles Barkley
Charles Barkley now has been a regular name in the NBA headlines. As he has almost joined hands with controversial Saudi-Backed LIV Golf League. This may end his time at NBA on TNT and working for both the organizations won’t really be possible for him because of the sponsors. He though will love to work for both as he mentioned in an interview of his. Charles Barkley has already had some great conversations with the organization and has also met with Greg Norman of LIV Golf. But still, it isn’t a done deal. As he is under contract with TNT’s ‘Inside the NBA’ for three more years and $30 million. But the Golf guys have more money so a switch is always expected and he has all rights to do so.
The new deal for Charles Barkley at LIV Golf is expected to be between the bracket of $50 million to $75 million. But again he’ll also be getting some free controversies with it and may get dropped off many of his commercials and even Chuck thinks the same. As speaking about it he has quoted: “I have three years left on my TNT deal, and I’m probably going to lose all of my commercials. I’m not sure how the public is going to get about commercials. I might not get commercials any more.” Honestly, many see it happening, so Charles Barkley will really need and demand a big bag if they want him to join LIV Golf.
That’s exactly what Charles Barkley discussed with his mate Dan Patrick on “The Dan Patrick Show”. They had a conversation about what type of offer it would take for LIV Golf to get him on the board. Chuck was pretty hesitant with the numbers first as we all know he’s a private guy who keeps his things closed in a circle to him. But soon he revealed an amount or a condition that will hook him on the green field away from the world of basketball.
Charles Barkley opens up about his expectations for the offer that may recruit him to LIV Golf
When Dan Patrick tried to get the talks for the new expected offer for Charles Barkley out. Chuck quoted: “Well, consider how much money I make now, it would take a really huge number for me to give up my life right now.” Of course, he wasn’t willing to say the numbers and go down in details. So Dan Patrick threw in a number for making it easy. He said that Chuck is making $20 million right now and unexpectedly he got it very right obviously not the very same number but near to it as the 1993 MVP said.
Further Dan Patrick questioned to Chuck and added that what if his current income ($20 million) gets tripled in the new offer by LIV Golf, will he join in. The answer to it was yes as Charles Barkley said: “If they triple it, and next time I’m on your show, the first question better be, ‘Charles, where we celebrating at tonight?’ That should be your first question, that should be your first question if they triple what I’m making now. Your first question should be, ‘Hey, Charles, where’s the party tonight?'”
Of course, declining such a good deal around $60 million is not easy and Charles Barkley did exactly what we would do in such situations. Still, his future as a media member is very uncertain and nothing can be claimed or predicted. But we’ll get to see him enjoying his time on the green field as he will be playing in the next LIV Golf Event at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey.
