Charles Barkley, the former professional basketball player who is a television analyst on TNT, is now on CNN with a new show. Barkley is part of King Charles with Gayle King, the American television personality author and broadcast journalist.
During the premiere of Barkley’s new show on CNN, it featured a segment where fans could leave a message for Chuck. And opening the segment was a mysterious caller.
The mystery caller was none other than the Lakers legend and four-time NBA champion, Shaquille O’Neal. Shaq, upon calling, said:
Hey Gayle. It's Shaq here, from Atlanta.
Charles Barkley, on hearing the former big center’s voice, was amused. Shaq went further to say:
I’m just wondering why a smart, sophisticated person like yourself would agree to sit next to a dummy like Chuck all alone for an hour every week. Anyway, let me know Gayle. Love you. Bye Bye.
Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley are co-analysts on TNT’s Inside the NBA and co-host Gayle King said that the message could mean good luck from Shaq for his new show on CNN.
Barkley in response to Shaq’s gesture said:
I love you too, Big. That was really cool of him to take the time. I mean, ain’t like he’s doing anything. We only work one day a week. “I love the big fellow. You know I got a lot of love for him [O’Neal], Ernie [Johnson], and Kenny [Smith].
Barkley in shock as Grizzlies newbie helps defeat the Golden State Warriors
The Memphis Grizzlies were without star players, Ja Morant and Marcus Smart but still beat the Golden State Warriors 116-107. They were also missing Steven Adams, Brandon Clarke, Derrick Rose, John Konchar, and Jake Lavia who were all absent due to injuries.
The newbie that impressed Chuck was GG Jackson II, who came off the bench to record 23 points, six rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. When co-host Ernie Johnson mentioned the newbie’s name, Barkley interrupted him saying:
What's his real name? Gregory? Gregory what?
Johnson in response said he had no knowledge of the Grizzlies’ backup guard, as Barkley responded by saying;
Ernie, you're the king of Jeopardy! You know more useless information than anybody in the world.
Another youngster stepped up in the game against the Warriors, in the form of Vince Williams Jr., who finished the game with 24 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
