“We have all taken ‘blood money’ and we all have ‘sports washed’ something” Charles Barkley opens up about controversies surrounded around his $75 Million LIV Golf move

Charles Barkley
Charles Barkley can be on wheels soon as recently he had a meeting with LIV Golf’s CEO Greg Norman and things went pretty good for both the sides. So a hefty offer can be coming soon and also then NBA on TNT will never be the same. As Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal were basically running the show together as a duo which fans loved to watch. But things may change now and honestly, there’s still a chance for Chuck to stay and cover Basketball for Turner. As he is under contract with TNT’s ‘Inside the NBA’ for three more years and $30 million. But the Golf guys have more money so a switch is always expected and he has all rights to do so.

The new deal for Charles Barkley by LIV Golf is expected to be around $75 million but it has got some free controversies too and the unsigned Chuck is already out there defending LIV Golf. He though wants to work for NBA on TNT with his crew as in an interview he mentioned: “In a perfect scenario, I would love to do both.” That may not be very possible as he also added: “I don’t know how Turner’s sponsors are going to feel about it. I know there is going to be some blowback.”
The situation has already got very controversial for Charles Barkley and still, he hasn’t signed anything. But again his whole career as a Hall of Famer player and even on T.V screen has been controversial so he’s the least interested guy who probably isn’t even worried about those. The Public Investment Fund, the Saudi government’s sovereign wealth fund, is funding the LIV Golf golf tour. That’s what has given birth to all the controversies out there as many believe it’s “blood money”. But Charles Barkley isn’t riding with it as he has his own perspective and recently even defended the organization.

Charles Barkley defends LIV Golf from controversial funding claims by media

Charles Barkley summoned up the whole scenario by calling it as “selective outrage” and further adding to their defense quoted: “I told [Norman], ‘Listen, they are making up words, like blood money and sports washing.’ I said, ‘We have all taken blood money, and we all have sports washed something, so I don’t like those words, to be honest with you.’ If you are in pro sports, you are taking some type of money from not a great cause.”

Charles Barkley isn’t all wrong with his take and yeah like every other time his words are making sense. But he is landing himself in some serious trouble by joining the Saudi Arabia-funded series which surely has a larger market and more money. But the Saudi government has also been accused of human rights abuses as well as the murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi, things Sir Charles will never stand for. So his future as a media member is still very uncertain and nothing can be claimed or said about it. But we’ll get to see him enjoying his time on the green field as he will be playing in the next LIV Golf Event (next week) at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey.
