The Los Angeles Lakers‘ recent victory in the NBA’s inaugural In-Season Tournament, ending in an important victory over the Indiana Pacers in Las Vegas, elicited a variety of reactions, none more notable than that of NBA legend Charles Barkley. Charles, known for his blunt commentary, weighed in on this recent addition to the NBA’s competitive landscape, specifically on the Lakers’ decision to raise a banner in Crypto.com Arena to mark the victory.
On the “Dan Patrick Show,” Charles mocked the Lakers for celebrating their NBA championship. He believed that the banner the Lakers would raise was silly. The Lakers have stated that it will be smaller than their previous 17 championship banners. There would also be room on the banner for future In-Season Tournament titles. Charles believes the idea is foolish regardless of size.
Charles Barkley said on Dan Patrick Show:
The Lakers better not put up a banner. If they do that, I am going to roast their a** on TV. You don’t do champagne for the In-Season tournament. I am glad I did not see that.Charles Barkley on Dan Patrick Show
Now, Charles Barkley didn’t exactly say it’s inappropriate for LeBron James and the Lakers to celebrate their NBA In-Season Tournament victory. All Charles said was that how they celebrated didn’t quite fit with the event, particularly for a historic franchise like the Lakers. Despite criticizing the Lakers’ celebrations, Charles praised the new NBA event.

Charles’s analysis on The Dan Patrick Show regarding the Greens’ dismissal. Charles attempted to use his own experience from the last years of his career to clarify what was happening with Draymond Green rather than warning him.
Charles Barkley added:
I started doing foolish things when I couldn’t play anymore. It was very frustrating… Like my last two years with the Rockets, I sucked as a player. You know, I actually hit Othella Harrington.
Green played a total of 7 minutes and scored 2 points in the Golden State Warriors’ 116-119 loss to Phoenix. He struck Sun’s player Jusuf Nurkic in the face and was ejected for a flagrant two-foul. Chuck has a fight club background, both on and off the court. Furthermore, he consistently pushes for players to perform better than that.
