Charles Barkley was known to have a fiery temper back during his playing days. A bit of a menace, the 1998 MVP regularly got into altercations, something which does not even seem true anymore.

That is obviously down to Charles Barkley‘s great sense of humor. The whole basketball world knows about it. Especially when you add that he always speaks his mind, things regularly get sarcastically hilarious. Barkley recently poked fun at a presidential candidate after she made a bizarre claim on national television.

Nikki Haley is in the running for Republican President Primaries. During an interview with Fox News, she suggested that America was never a racist country. When footage of this claim was shown to Barkley on their show King Charles hosted on CNN, Barkley immediately started laughing. When co-host Gayle King suggested that people on the streets could not corroborate Haley’s claim, Barkley added;

Because she’s 100% correct if you forget about slavery, Jim Crow, segregation, antisemitism, Asian hate that’s been going on in this country, America has been smooth sailing.

Barkley added that America was built on racism. He went on to claim that the very basis of the country had been built out of inequality towards other communities.

Barkley added that he is not sure about who he will vote for in the upcoming elections. But for him, Haley’s latest comments mean that she is definitely out of contention. Barkley reiterated that Haley’s comments came from ignorance. She probably has forgotten all the racist situations the country has been through in its history.

The Philadelphia 76ers legend added that nobody with common sense would agree with Haley about America not being a racist country. He says that every day if someone turns on the TV, all they see is incidents involving racism. Hence, for someone who is about to run for President, Barkley believes that Nikki Haley should be making more informed comments.

Barkley and his views about Presidents and candidates

The NBA Hall of Famer has often blurted out his views about potential Presidential candidates and Presidents of the past. He was critical of former President Donald Trump several times. Both when Trump was the President, as well as during the current Presidential Primaries. He is seemingly unsure if current President Joe Biden is fit enough to continue for another term.

But Barkley has a great relationship with former President Barrack Obama. They have met a few times, and have also been seen engaging in video calls. But most importantly, Barkley interviewed the former President before the 2014 All-Star Weekend. The former NBA maverick has often proclaimed Obama as the greatest President the country has ever had.

Hence, it will be fair to say that Barkley always speaks his mind. And rightfully so, never failing to talk about Presidential candidates in his characteristic hilarious ways.
