“I don’t want to be broke again!” Charles Barkley reveals why he will NEVER own private jets

Charles Barkley has made a lot of money both as a basketball player and as a broadcaster. Even though he has lost money due to his betting habits, Barkley has always propositioned taking care of his money. Having never purchased anything expensive, he suggested that the fear of going broke has helped him avoid such purchases. He explained such a situation concerning private jets, even though he travels a lot during basketball season.
Charles Barkley was a guest on the Dan Patrick Show where they were discussing basketball-related topics. And when host Dan Patrick understood that Barkley is moving around the country a lot, he asked whether he has a private jet.

Patrick mentioned that Barkley has the kind of money to afford private jets. However, Barkley wants to keep his money intact.
Despite being a perennial All-Star and a Hall of Famer, Barkley drives a Kia. Never in his life has he ever bought luxury goods. The only place he does not mind losing money is at the betting table. But even then, he has brought it under control after losing a lot of money during his playing career.
After having experienced what being broke is, he does not want that to happen again. He has talked about following Dr. Julius Erving‘s advice about stardom being enough to get noticed. This is why despite having a busy schedule, he prefers to fly commercial.
Charles Barkley does not like basketball stars spending money on flashy possessions
The Hall of Famer has always lived his life by the logic that a star does not need expensive products to showcase themselves. But nowadays, when basketball players get a contract in the NBA, it is usually in the millions. They end up instantly splurging on luxury products to satisfy themselves and their fans. They also splurge on their friends and family to make themselves feel good.
Even the face of the NBA, LeBron James, was critical of younger players who spend their newfound money on expensive products instead of focusing on their game. There are reports of several former basketball players ending up broke in their lives. They could not keep up with their expenses after their career ended.
Charles Barkley does not want to go broke. And for that, if he has to deny himself certain luxuries, he might as well do that.
