“I would become the skinniest power forward in history of civilization” Charles Barkley savagely trolls Zion Williamson’s potential $200 Million contract extension with Pelicans
Zion Williamson clowned by Charles Barkley
The New Orleans Pelicans surely lived up to their full potential without Zion Williamson in the 2021-22 season. Having out-raced Los Angeles Lakers for the race to make it into the playoffs, it was only Phoenix Suns who knocked out them in the first-round of the playoffs. With Zion once again making way into the headlines with rumors of securing a hefty pay-day bag, Charles Barkley could not help but resist from trolling the Pelicans stud.
Moreover, the former Phoenix Suns MVP went onto clown Zion Williamson for his weight. To those who are not aware, Pelicans are worried about the health and physique of their marquee player. Which could be the possible reason why there are talks that they won’t fully guarantee his contract extension. However, it is expected that he could command between $182 million to $195 million plus incentives over five years.
Zion Williamson on the verge of securing yet another big bag
While Charles Barkley’s response is hilarious, it is certainly not without merit. After all, Zion Williamson has long been questioned about his weight and how it has made him an injury-prone player. As the New Orleans Pelicans’ issues about his conditioning persists, he won’t be able to easily get the money he has worked hard for.
That being said, Zion Williamson was evidently seen practicing in the gym while the Pelicans hustled int he playoffs and later stages of the regular season. But he did not make an appearance on the court. This surely, is not the first time when Barkley has decided to make fun of the young Pelicans stud as well. For Barkley, he surely needs an opportunity to showcase his particular joking skills.
That being said, Williamson has been recently spotted working out and dunking explosively as he gets back to full health following his foot surgery. If he can prove to the Pelicans that he is 100 percent and no longer a risky option, then the team might have a change of heart with regards to his contract. Hopefully the player who was regarded as the ‘next LeBron James’ could bounce back stronger and even better.
