Draymond Green may escape consequences for his on-court altercations, but Charles Barkley isn’t letting him off the hook. When the Golden State Warriors veteran appeared on ‘Inside the NBA’ before the All-Star game, the Sixers legend took the opportunity to issue a playful warning. Barkley humorously outlined his response if he were to confront the 2016 Defensive Player of the Year, suggesting he’s ready to challenge Green head-on.
This season, Green has faced a string of disciplinary problems, notably the punching incident involving a Phoenix big man, resulting in his absence for 12 games. The NBA reinstated him over a month after the December 12 altercation, during which he struck Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in the face.
While together on the show, Barkley said,
Draymond, I know how much money you make. Knock me out so I can take your a** to court, and get more than that 50 grand.
Barkley is prepared to endure a punch to bankrupt Green. However, the four-time champion responded hilariously,
Aight Drew Eubanks.
Green’s response drew attention to the incident that occurred on the 14th of February ahead of the Phoenix Suns vs. Detroit Pistons where Pistons center Isiah Stewart and Phoenix Suns forward Drew Eubanks got into a physical altercation before their game in the parking lot.
Charles Barkley tries to make Draymond Green open up about his role in the LeBron James to Warriors failed deal
Minutes into the All-Star game, Draymond Green spilled the beans on the failed trade deal involving LeBron James and the Golden State Warriors on deadline day. Seated alongside Charles Barkley in the TNT commentary, Green inadvertently revealed details about the Golden State Warriors’ attempt to acquire James.
Charles started the conversation when he said,
The Lakers will take the trade tomorrow… If the Lakers can get Klay and Kuminga, they will do that deal tomorrow.
Green responded by saying “no” to the Kuminga deal but added,
It came out like almost like I’m initiating this stuff like Draymond contacted LeBron, no it came to my desk, something came over to my desk.
Furthermore, Green confirmed that he had a conversation with his agent, Rich Paul, regarding the trade. He also cleared up a misconception that was circulating.
I had a conversation with Rich, but I didn’t initiate these talks.
A partnership between LeBron James and Steph Curry would be exciting for the NBA and fans. It would still be great to see what the future holds for both veterans.
