Patrick Beverley was all over the NBA headlines after he shoved Deandre Ayton in the back and threw him out of the court. It all started in the 4th quarter when 3.55 was left on the clock and Devin Booker fouled Austin Reaves and tried to bully him while Reaves was on the ground. Soon after, Deandre Ayton stood over Austin and stared him down. What followed was Beverley shoving Ayton down on the floor and then in turn staring him down.

Patrick Beverly is a known team guy and bullying his teammate is always a bad idea for opponents. Finding Reaves on the ground and Ayton staring him down, perhaps unnecessarily, Beverly took offense to that and immediately rushed to Reaves’ rescue, as he pushed Ayton down on the court. Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, and Kenny Smith reacted on TNT in light of Beverley’s behavior.

Charles Barkley, former Phoenix Suns legend and NBA analyst on NBA on TNT did not like what happened during the end of the game. He called Beverley out for his aggressive behavior which has been his pattern throughout his career. Barkley said, “this dude [Patrick Beverley] is begging for a two piece. He might get a whole bucket of chicken if he keeps messing around with the wrong person,” alluding to Beverley’s past fight with other players.

Barkley also was critical of the fights in the game, especially that take place when the game is over. He said, “I don’t like guys who fight after the game. You have 40 minutes to fight in football games… don’t fight when the game is over, fight during the game.” However, during the confrontation between the Lakers and Suns, when Beverley shoved Ayton, the Suns had only 10 point lead with 3.55 left on the clock. A substantial amount of time was left on the clock and it was far from ending.

Lakers lose to Phoenix Suns amidst Patrick Beverly and Deandre Ayton drama

Anthony Davis guarding Deandre Ayton

Los Angeles Lakers fell to the Phoenix Suns 100-115 on Tuesday. As much as the match was highlighted by Deandre Ayton and Patrick Beverley Drama it was also a historic night for Anthony Davis on a disappointing night. He became the only player in NBA history to record 37 points, 21 rebounds, 5 steals, and 5 blocks.

Despite missing their superstar LeBron James, who is out with injury, the Lakers were leading the Suns by 2 points going into the 3rd quarter. However, the Suns were also without their primary point guard Chris Paul. Currently, with a 5-11 record the Lakers stand in the 14th spot behind Houston Rockets in the Western Conference. Patrick Beverley scored 0 points but secured 10 rebounds in the game. Moving forward it is going to be challenging for the Lakers to move ahead in the standing as the spots in the conference are pretty tight.

Laker player and head coach Darvin Ham came in support of Patrick Beverley for standing up for his teammate. NBA analysts, Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless also supported Beverley for standing up for his teammate. Beverley was ejected with 3.55 left on the clock. Ayton was slapped with a technical foul and Booker with a flagrant 1.
