“Yo MJ stop gambling and start checking up on your team” Charlotte Hornets guard James Bouknight gets arrested for DWI while in possession of a firearm
James Bouknight
James Bouknight is one among the promising group of individuals that may potentially lead the NBA at some point in the near future. But maybe not anymore after he recently had a run-in with the local authorities of Charlotte. The NBA has had several convicts step on its courts who have been imprisoned for various disturbing reasons.
But none quite matches the abnormal conditions the Charlotte Hornets point guard was found in. The 22-year-old “suspect” was found heavily intoxicated and passed out in the middle of a local parking lot. According to the police, he was spotted with a gun in his hands.
This certainly raises several questions about the intention behind carrying a firearm while he was nearly blackout drunk blocking vehicles parked around him. The police had apparently staged a plan to wake him up from his slumber using the loud sirens and lights of their vehicles as well.
They claimed that he was completely disoriented after being woken up by the police. It took a while before the authorities were able to get a grip on the man and take him into custody for Driving While Intoxicated.
James Bouknight makes a public apology to his teammates
It was not a particularly great idea for James Bouknight to have made an impulsive decision to drink and drive. The league strictly exempts players from partaking in any sort of harmful activity that could endanger their lives of theirs and other innocent people’s.
He offered an apology to his team and teammates saying, “I just want to apologize for being a distraction before the start of the season for my teammates and what we’ve got going on. It’s disappointing, but I’m just trying to learn from it, stay strong, move on and continue to grow.”
