Derrick Rose, the former MVP, has been on the Memphis Grizzlies for a while as a veteran presence. Rose has played around 24 games this season, though was back on the injury report in February. He is mostly active as the veteran who guides the younger players. The Grizzlies are dismantled as of now, having most of their primary players on the injury report.

Recently, a fake X account posted Derrick Rose‘s retirement news, which was fake. Unfortunately, the Chicago Bulls’ commentators fell for it and announced the same mid-game.

The Bulls hosted the Washington Wizards, and it was during the first quarter when the commentators broke the fake news.

The former number-one pick played for the Bulls for seven seasons. In that stretch, Rose won an MVP award, Rookie of the Year, and three All-Star selections. His rise in the league was projected to be as great as LeBron James. However, an ACL injury changed the course of his career. Following his recovery, Rose went on to play three more seasons for the Bulls before he was traded to New York. Years later, today, he is happy with his role with the Grizzlies.

Derrick Rose will provide much greater guidance to young Grizzlies

Rose was never a veteran presence on any team. His game was more inclined towards scoring and being a backup scorer on the bench later on. Though with the Grizzlies, he looks to guide the younger and upcoming players. The 35-year-old has no problem being the more experienced and well-distinguished veteran while helping players like Ja Morant, who does show glimpses of young Rose.

Considering Rose’s age, it won’t be long till the actual news of his retirement breaks out. To be one of the greatest scorers in the league at one point, Rose knows his way around the league to be more consistent as a primary scorer. To mentor Morant, Rose can provide him guidance, following Morant’s off-court scandals.

With the Grizzlies looking to tank the rest of the season, it will be interesting to see them acquire yet another draft pick. They already have two players who were the top draft picks in the past, thus, it won’t hurt to add another one to their roster. Rose, on the other hand, will also look to get some action next season, as the veteran nears his last few seasons in the league.
