A valiant team effort by the Chicago Sky to beat the best team in the league.

The Las Vegas Aces established a franchise record most points in a quarter with 41 points in the opening quarter on 63 percent field goal shooting. After falling down by 28 points, the Chicago Sky outscored Las Vegas 59-25 to take the lead heading into the final quarter. Coach James Wade, who led the Sky to the franchise’s first WNBA title last year, said his team’s experience helped Tuesday. Wade said: “It’s not easy to win in this league. You know that people beside you have done it, and so you have confidence in them.”

For Las Vegas, Jackie Young scored 23 points, Kelsey Plum had 22 points and eight assists, and Chelsea Gray was the only starter who did not have at least 10 points before halftime, but she did have six assists. The Aces were considered the team to beat at the halfway point of the 2022 season, with their explosive starting five swiftly emerging as the league’s most powerful unit.
