“It was a really bad decision” Chris Broussard breaks down Jimmy Butler’s shot selection in Game 7 versus the Celtics
Chris Broussard on Jimmy Butler
Jimmy Butler had a very unfortunate night during the Eastern Conference Finals being sent home after Game 7. The team has been trying relentlessly to redeem themselves from the 2019-20 NBA Finals but it seems like they also need to put in more work on skills outside of defense. The Miami Heat were easily the top contender for the title following the exit of other prolific teams and Butler was more than determined for the gold.
Game 6 happened to be one of the biggest nights in the player’s career after he had the responsibility to help the Heat avoid a closeout to face elimination. He scored a historic 47 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists in the game. Unfortunately, the following game did not have the same outcome on offense as they had hoped for.
Jimmy Butler’s performance could not help Heat qualify over the Boston Celtics
Last night’s loss came off as a complete shocker for many who expected that Jimmy Butler would lead the Heat through elimination. The Boston Celtics were able to contain Miami’s scoring allowing them only 17 points in the first quarter. Boston was up by almost 13 points towards the end but the Heat’s shots barely fell through.
Jimmy Buckets finished with 35 points and 9 rebounds during the game but failed to sink in important shots towards the closing minutes. Bam Adebayo had 25 points during the game but his efforts were not enough. Coach Erik Spoelstra said, “It’s just one of those really tough moments. You can’t prepare for it… it’s one of the worst feelings in the world to address your locker room after a game like this.”
Chris Broussard gives his analysis of Jimmy Butler’s shot selection
Chris Broussard was very critical of Jimmy Butler’s performance despite having one of his best playoffs runs yet. He pointed out Jimmy’s ability to shoot three-pointers saying, “I was a bad decision. I said it as soon as it happened, bad move. However, I’m not going to kill Jimmy Butler cause they were only in that spot because he was so great.”
“Overall he shot 18% from three in this series. That three you showed, was the only one of four attempts that he made in that game. He shot 23% from three in the season. So, he’s not a good three-point shooter, but guess what, he’s a great midrange shooter or driver to the bucket,” said Broussard.
